Apparently "aloha" means both "hello" and "goodbye" in Hawaiian, but, in this case, I'm saying goodbye to Hawaii and hello (again) to Fresno. The lease on my apartment in Honolulu is finished in mid-April, since the owner is planning to reoccupy. It seems like a sign that perhaps I'd been here a bit too long and it is now time to move along.
Why Fresno? Well, my parents live there and I left a lot of stuff there when I went off to Peace Corps in Tonga. I'd planned to visit this summer for a couple of months anyways, in order to go through it all, to clean up the past, before I continue on to the next port of call for the future.
As for the future... I've got the core modules of my prototype software development system completed, more or less, and I'm now in the process of debugging and tweaking them, as I develop the common framework for the applications. Pretty slick, if I do say so myself - although I will admit to having made a major mistake by going with C++. A bit of research now proves that sticking with C would have been a smarter path, esp. with regards to portability. Something I'll need to fix while I'm in Fresno. Not much else to do there anyways, so I'll have plenty of time and incentive to work!
